Vehicle care
How to look after your rental vehicle — including refuelling, cleaning and what to check before you drive.
Before you drive
Pre-departure checks
Walk-around check
Before setting off, walk around the vehicle and note any existing damage. Report anything you spot to the branch before leaving.
Dashboard warnings
Check for any warning lights on the dashboard. If any appear, contact the branch before driving.
Adjust your seat and mirrors
Take a moment to adjust the seat, steering wheel and mirrors for a safe, comfortable drive.
Refuelling
Fuel guide
Check the fuel type
Confirm the correct fuel type before refuelling — it is usually marked near the fuel cap. Using the wrong fuel can cause serious engine damage and you will be liable for the repair cost.
Return with a full tank
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank unless otherwise agreed. Please return the vehicle with a full tank to avoid a refuelling charge.
Keep your fuel receipt
Keep your final fuel receipt in case there is any question about the fuel level on return.
Wrong fuel? Do not start the engine. Call the branch immediately for guidance.
During your rental
Looking after the vehicle
Keep it clean
Please keep the vehicle reasonably clean inside and out. A cleaning charge may apply if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty.
Remove your belongings
Check the vehicle for personal belongings before returning. We are not responsible for items left in the vehicle.
Report issues promptly
If you notice any fault, warning light or damage during your rental, contact the branch straight away so we can help.
