What to bring to collection
A clear checklist of the documents you need to hire a vehicle from Practical Enfield.
Your collection checklist
Bring all of the following to the Enfield branch when you collect your vehicle. Without these documents, we may not be able to release the vehicle to you.
Full driving licence (photocard)
Your full UK photocard driving licence. Must be held for a minimum of 12 months. The photocard must be valid and not expired.
Bring the physical photocard with you — we cannot accept a photo or digital copy.
Paper counterpart (if applicable)
If you still hold an older paper counterpart licence, bring it along with your photocard.
If you have a paper-only licence (no photocard), please contact the branch before collection — you will need additional ID such as a valid passport.
DVLA check / share code
A DVLA check code so we can verify your licence record online. Generate one at gov.uk/view-driving-licence.
The code is valid for 21 days. Have it ready at collection — we will look up your licence record on the spot.
Proof of address (dated within 3 months)
A recent utility bill (gas, electricity, water, landline), bank or building society statement, or council tax letter showing your name and current address.
Must be dated within the last 3 months. Mobile phone bills and printed online statements are accepted if they clearly show your name, address and date.
Credit or debit card (lead driver's name)
A credit or debit card in the lead driver's name for the deposit and any hire charges.
The deposit is taken as a pre-authorisation and released after the vehicle is returned undamaged. Cash is not accepted for the deposit.

Good to know
Minimum age
Drivers must be at least 21 years old. Drivers aged 21–24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge and some category restrictions (larger vans and premium cars may not be available). There is no upper age limit, but drivers aged 65+ should contact the branch to confirm any requirements.
Additional drivers
Additional drivers must meet the same licence, age and ID requirements as the lead driver and be present at collection with their own documents. There may be a small daily charge for each additional driver.
Licence endorsements
Licences with certain endorsements or convictions may be referred. Please contact the branch in advance if you have any endorsements on your licence so we can confirm your eligibility before you travel.
